In Hinduism, Nirakar Shiva means Shiva without form — Nir (without) + Akar (form). He is the limitless, formless, timeless, and unmanifested Brahman, described in ancient scriptures as “Sat-Chit-Ananda” – Pure Being, Pure Consciousness, and Pure Bliss.

Unlike other Rudraksha that have mukhis (faces or clefts), the 0 Mukhi Rudraksha has no lines on its surface. It represents “Shunya” – the void, the beginningless, endless, limitless expanse — the Nirakar Shiva, who has no name, no form, no guna (quality), and yet is the source of all creation.

This rare Rudraksha is believed to embody pure consciousness, the Shiva Tattva, before it took any manifest form.

As per the Shiva Mahapurana – Vidyeshwara Samhita, in the very beginning of existence, before even the cycle of creation began, there was only one thing — the Nirguna Brahman, the Supreme Consciousness. That state was Shiva — formless, forceless, thoughtless, without duality.
At the moment before creation emerged, Shiva opened His third eye not in anger, but in meditative silence. From that infinite silence arose a single divine tear. This tear did not bear any mark, no division, no duality — it was a formless seed of oneness, and when it touched the Himalayan soil, it became the 0 Mukhi Rudraksha – the first Rudraksha, born from silence, not sound.
