…excerpt from Guru Aum Sushant Ji’s Book – Shiva’s Blessings: The Secrets of Rudraksha
The Power and Intellect of Ganesha: A Story of His Divine Wisdom and Vighnaharta Blessings
Once, in the heavens, **Sage Narada** approached Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with a divine fruit, the “fruit of knowledge and immortality.” The sage informed them that the fruit could not be shared and must be given to one of their two sons, **Ganesha** or **Kartikeya**. Both sons desired the fruit, and so Shiva decided to hold a challenge: the one who could circle the world three times and return first would be granted the fruit.
Kartikeya, swift and powerful, immediately mounted his peacock and set off to encircle the Earth, confident of his victory due to his speed. Meanwhile, **Ganesha**, who was more contemplative and aware of his physical limitations, realized that racing around the world would not be his strength. Instead, he came up with a different approach.
In a profound display of wisdom, Ganesha simply walked around his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, three times. After completing his circles, he bowed to them with devotion. When Shiva and Parvati inquired why he had done this instead of following Kartikeya around the world, Ganesha humbly replied:
*”You, my parents, are the entire universe for me. By circling you, I have circled the world and all creation.”*
Hearing these words, Shiva and Parvati were deeply moved by Ganesha’s understanding and intellect. Ganesha had shown that true wisdom lies in recognizing the essence of things rather than following mere physical actions. His brilliant use of intellect over brute force or speed demonstrated his divine insight, and thus, he was declared the winner and granted the fruit of knowledge.
From this story, **Ganesha** is celebrated not just for his physical attributes but for his profound intellect. As **Vighnaharta**, the remover of obstacles, Ganesha blesses his devotees by clearing their path of difficulties, but this story also highlights how he uses wisdom and intelligence to overcome challenges.
Through his power of intellect, Ganesha teaches us that obstacles in life are not always conquered by strength alone but through knowledge, insight, and devotion.
